Ybor USPS Distribution Center - The Bermuda Triangle of Packages
Where is my package? Why hasn't the tracking been updated? Is it ever going to be delivered?
These are phrases that echo around Temple Terrace and beyond. Google holds a plethora of unsatisfied customers who just want their mail but it seems to be stuck in limbo. The common thread between all of these missing packages is the Ybor City USPS Distribution Center.
My package contained wax melts from one of my favorite retailers on TikTok. I had received the other package that had come from the same retailer and had mailed out a day later than the missing package. November 16th was the last update that stated that it was "In Transit - Moving through the system". Unfortunately for me this status update is the kiss of death for packages if it appears for more than a day. I live roughly 15 minutes from the distribution center and my packages generally make it to my local post office the same day it arrives in Ybor. Not this one. It has been stuck for almost four full days. No movement, no updates, nothing.
I began to look around to see if there was a customer service number to call. What I found instead was page after page of negative reviews for this specific distribution center and issues just like mine that have been happening for quite some time. One such review from Krishna Q. states:
"I made a shipment on 10/3/2023, the package was detained at these facilities since 10/4/2023. Since then it has only been scanned twice more as in transit. There has been no update since 08/10 and the package was estimated to arrive on 10/14. Which didn't happen. From the previous comments I could say that it is typical of this ease to disappear packages."
Last month, Dominici Music said:
"Somebody got to do something about this facility, it seems like they stolen my package, and nobody gives me an answer"
Lee Bates says:
"A black hole where mail disappears and is never seen again. Theft is high here..."
There are some packages being shipped to a Florida residence but once they get to the Ybor City distribution center they suddenly pivot (and yes, I can hear Ross's voice with that word) and end up all the way across the country, taking another week through the pipeline and ending back in Ybor.
With so many negative reviews in such a short span of time, I have to wonder if there is something going on at this facility. Are they severely understaffed as so many places are today? Do they have employees who are stealing packages? Have they not trained the employees properly?
Where is management in all of this? With so many packages disappearing and so many claims needing to be filed, there has to be someone in a position of authority that has noticed something.
I reached out to customer service to see if there was any type of update. I of course got the typical canned answer that says they are sorry that this happened but they can't do anything about it. I was told to wait 15 days after the original mailing date and then I could file the claim. I spoke with the seller and she was apologetic even though it was in no way her fault. I feel bad because the wax melts I ordered from her are now all going to waste because they are lost in the abyss.
I hope some day this facility is looked into because it really needs to be. Do you have a package that is waiting in limbo at the YBDC or have you had packages that never made it? Let me know. Maybe if enough people complain someone will look into it?
I just want my wax melts.
